We have spent over four years designing, creating, building and perfecting our orgamic ecosystem, to be able to harvest fresh fish and salads, for people who are passionate about their local environment and eating clean food.

We started scoff for a number of reasons, we wanted to try to produce food which was healthier and more sustainable to produce and ultimately cost less for us and the planet. It was a tall order, but what did we have to loose………years of our life and money later our inquisitive attempt at a small feed your own family venture has grown into a feed the masses this is the way food should be grown to help the greater good business. We are constantly trying to improve our way of producing food which improves all human wildlife and planet survival.

We have a huge amount of passion for growing our produce and caring for our fish, and are immensely proud of what we have achieved so far. We only hope that we can carry on improving and changing methods to improve and keep up with our fast demand. At scoff we try our hardest to blend in with our natural environment and try to help not hinder its beauty.

HOW WE WORK

OUR OWN ECOSYSTEM

At SCOFF, our all year round, Aquaponically grown produce is always fresh & orgamic and has minimal impact on our environment. But most importantly everything we grow is ethical, honest and tastes like Mother Nature intended it to.

Our Aquaponics ecosystem is run purely from the sun’s rays and our naturally harvested rain water. We ensure our Trout are happy and healthy as they provide us with all the nutrients needed to grow our SCOFF produce all year round. Our home grown Trout create nutrient-rich water to feed healthy microbes that converts the waste into nutrients for our plants to absorb and grow. In return, our produce gives back clean water to our Fishy friends, in a totally orgamic closed loop ecosystem.

OUR STORY

ORGAMIC & SUSTAINABLE

From the very start of our SCOFF story, we have always been committed to keeping things simple and ethical. We believe less is more and the proof is in our pudding. (Well, in our case, Trout & Produce!) If we used ANY chemical pestisides, herbicides or fertilisers, our fish would die. Not only do we take pride in delivering our chemical free, totally clean produce but our Fish are proof of our orgamic practices too.

We will continue to develop and grow our happy & healthy little Aquaponics farm here in South Devon, where the sustainability of our future and the best tasting food will always be at the heart of SCOFF.

AN explanation

‘ORGAMIC’

Looking around our website and social medias, you’ll probably notice the word ‘orgamic’ thrown around a lot. Don’t worry, it’s not a big spelling mistake we’ve missed! ‘Orgamic’ is a new term we’ve coined for ourselves…

As we’re sure you all know by now, we here at SCOFF are proud to produce food that’s free from pesticides, hormones, artificial fertilisers and all the other nasty stuff that can often be found in produce (if we were to use things of this nature, it could seriously harm our fish). You might think that this makes our produce ORGANIC and usually, you’d be right to think that. However, we find ourselves in a fairly unique situation that prevents us from obtaining organic certification.

Because of EU regulation number 834/200754 we are not able to say our produce is organically grown as we cannot obtain a Soil Certificate from the UK government. This is because, being an aquaponic farm, our produce grows in water, not soil. Essentially, we can’t obtain a Soil Certificate because we don’t have any soil! A bit of a nonsensical position that has led to us using the nonsensical word ‘ORGAMIC’! Rest assured, as we’ve said, all our produce is still proudly free from harmful, artificial chemicals and tastes all the better for it!
